Dane Bradley, a 36-year-old college student and US Army veteran, seemed to be the perfect fit for this project.
Dane has had quite an interesting path leading up to his current enrollment status at Slippery Rock University. Dane was born in New Mexico before living in multiple different states including California, Maryland, Florida, and now Pennsylvania.
Being a non-traditional college student, Dane faces many challenges traditional college students may not realize as well as some similar challenges traditional college students experience on a daily basis. For example, Dane mentioned that he struggled with the transition from combat to civilian life. Dane also expressed his issues with discipline and the mental switch from extreme discipline to a relaxed, open environment in university.
Check out what Dane had to say in more detail below.
Dane went on to explain the new perspective he gathered from his time overseas. It was fascinating to hear about the complacency of America as well as the massive challenge our nation faces of navigating the confusing modern era.
Gathering from his expertise with years of military experience and knowledge, Dane provided some worthwhile advice for college students and young adults in general on how they can successfully navigate the struggles of taking that transition into adulthood.

The main message Dane wants to convey is that it is important to build perspective when approaching new and different situations or people. Dane has taken a very non-traditional route which has ended up benefitting him in numerous ways, but it also comes with challenges that many may not realize.
It is quite interesting to view university life from Dane's perspective and the guidance Dane provides is very beneficial to several others. Dane's enthusiasm and positive attitude despite living through the horrors of modern combat is quite uplifting and serves as a role model for many students at SRU.
