Each year, Jersey Mike's Subs participates in what is known as the annual "day of giving." This special day is the last Wednesday in March and every Jersey Mike's location in the US donates 100% of its proceeds towards a worthy cause. During the whole month of March, customers can donate either 1, 3, or 5$ to the special olympics as well. This year, Jersey Mike's partnered with the special olympics foundation to raise money for its annual games in Orlando this coming summer.
With over 2200 locations nationwide, Jersey Mike's is more than capable of providing strong funding for this special program. I had the pleasure of doing my small part at the Cranberry Township location which ended up being number 37 out of over 2200 stores in terms of bread count on the day of giving.
Here is a video of my operations manager, Tyler, explaining more about the day of giving. Tyler is responsible for overseeing seven different stores across the western PA region including Cranberry, Monaca, Butler, Bridgeville, Robinson, Moon, and Mcknight.
Below you will see the numbers for bread loaves sold on the day of giving. Jersey Mike's measures the success of the stores largely based on how many loaves of bread are sold. One loaf is considered 14 inches which is equivalent to our largest sub, the giant.
As you can see from the data, our region performed very well compared to the nation. With Robinson and Cranberry cracking the top 100 stores.
As a whole, Jersey Mike's raised 14.9 million dollars during the day of giving. Shattering the previous year's record of 12.1 million for the Woodland Foundation. During the entire month of March, Jersey Mike's raised over 20.1 million dollars.
This proves that Jersey Mike's is growing as a company exponentially and that is largely due to establishing a culture of giving back to the communities in which they serve. Jersey Mike's can and will continue building off this success by putting in resources to giving back.
The special olympics will commence in Orlando, Flordia from June 4-12th. Over 4000 athletes will compete with thousands of volunteers. An excellent organization gained even more funding which inspires hope for millions out there.
