Young Thug has had an incredibly polarizing career thus far. Ever since his introduction in 2014, nobody can place him in a single genre. Although he is widely considered a rapper by many standards, Thug tends to mold his own lane in terms of diversity within his music.

Punk continues this trend as this album sees thugger embrace the rock side of music, while also infusing elements of hip-hop.

Young Thug always seems to make headlines. Whether it is his strange outfit choices or his zany personality, there is always something interesting about him. In the case of his latest effort, Thug continues to craft his ability to successfully navigate different genres almost effortlessly. Thug's versatility is what makes him so intriguing to many listeners.

Being versatile is something many of his peers lack which is what sets Thug ahead of the competition. This project is one of those in which listeners should have zero expectations going into it simply because you never know what to expect from Thug.

Punk features heavy acoustic production to emphasize the idealism of Thug viewing himself as a rockstar. Thug explores topics such as family life, woke culture, managing relationships, and simply just having fun with it. Take the track Stressed for example. As can be concluded from the title itself, the track is about tough topics such as divorce, strokes, being paralyzed, etc. Despite these topics, Thug always finds a unique way to make these songs sound fun.

For most artists, that is a lost cause. With Thug, it is normal for him to create a scene in the listener's head that translates into something far more beautiful than expected. This album is an absolutely worthwhile listen in virtually any atmosphere, but it does not come without some controversy.

While this album is largely a treat to listen to, it also has its dull moments. There are some very awkward tracks sprinkled within here that show the rushed nature of this album. I definitely enjoyed this effort from Thug, however, it could have been more polished and a few tracks seem to be included for no reason at all which damages the cohesiveness of this project.
